Murdoch Win Western Uni Games
Murdoch take honours in the inaugural Western Uni Games held in Bunbury this week.
Five men's teams entered this new event hosted by Australian University Sport - Murdoch, UWA, UWA 2 Curtin and Cutin 2 and competed over the three day event held at Hay Park in Bunbury.
Cold and windy conditions tested the teams throughout the round robin games. UWA beat Murdoch in the initial rounds with Curtin X and Y and UWA B left to battle it our for bronze with Curtin taking the medal. In the gold medal match both teams took a while to settle on offense with the game scoreless for the first 17 minutes, UWA settled first and put 3 un answered points on the board. Murdoch found their rhythm and responded with 4 goals. Both teams then converted on served with Murdoch eventually getting three late breaks to eventually come out on top with a 10-7 victory.
